Amaze n Fun, Kangaroo Island

Amaze n fun, is exactly as its name suggests, A maze and fun. Situated approximately thirty minutes from Kingscote, it is quite a nice little fun park.

The first issue with it is the fact that it is on a dirt road, but as you travel around KI you soon come to realise that most things are situated on dirt roads. There is a small admissions fee which covers everything in the park, except train rides. The park is home to reportedly the largest hedge maze in the southern hemisphere, but dont expect beautifully manicured box or conifer hedges that you may have seen elsewhere, this is KI and water isn't so easy to come by. The hedges are mostly local tea tree and although they may not be incredibly well manicured i really enjoyed wandering through it and it is big and takes a while to get through. There is also a little side interest that goes on with letters in the maze that you have to find and try and work out what they spell. If you can figure it out you can get a prize from the very friendly kiosk staff.

The staff at the park a very friendly and they have a range of food and refreshments as well as some souvenirs available at the kiosk.

The park also contains a giant draughts/chess board and a put put golf course which is very challenging. There is also a large lake, which at the time of our visit it was rather low, but would be very nice when it was full. When we were there, there was also some fairly major looking renovations going on so i would expect it to be even better in the future.

The major catch is that its only open during the summer school holidays (December/January), but if your visiting at that time i would recommend a visit. Give yourself half a day to wonder around, if you have children maybe a bit longer. I would suggest it is fun for the whole family teenagers included.

I love this nostalgic post of Amaze n’Fun. We own it and are going to reopen it in April 2026. If you respond, would love to fly you out here and pay for all of your food and accomodation to write a new and detailed review. It’s so exciting to be able to screen shot great pics from your post!!
